The DinoCroc

The undisputed apex predator of its time and place, the DinoCroc fills the niche of the Carcharodontosaurids which went extinct several million years ago. Its ancestor is the infamous BoarCroc Kaprosuchus saharicus which already showed a lot of the adaptations that make the DinoCroc such a terrifying animal. These include long powerful legs which make this animal much faster on land than any modern Crocodilian, fused nasals which turn its snout into a battering ram and giant canine-like teeth which penetrate even the toughest skin. Basically the DinoCroc is just an oversized version of the BoarCroc, large enough to tackle not only the rather small Sauropods, but also the massive Ornithopods of Maastrichtian Africa.
DinoCrocs are solitary creatures which avoid contact with each other, until mating time when they gather together in estuary mouths for their most spectacular practice: Spino-hunting! Taking down the biggest predatory dinosaur the Mesozoic has ever seen sure isn´t easy, but the DinoCrocs take advantage of the Snapping Spinos´ occasionally violent fights. As soon as a male Snapping Spino has been mortally wounded the giant Crocodylomorphs literally swarm over the poor theropod, turning him to pieces. Each male DinoCroc tries to get the biggest chunk of flesh to impress its mate. After the female has laid her eggs into a large mound she will guard them till the babies hatch. During that time the male goes on the hunt to feed her and himself. As one can easily imagine, the monstrous DinoCrocs protect their offspring very fiercely, so it is advisable to stay away from their nests!
